About the Clean Energy & Equity Network
A community-owned Network that empowers African Nova Scotian and Indigenous peoples to build and participate in the clean economy. Through Network membership, communities and organizations can participate in knowledge sharing, clean energy education and engagement and assessments of community needs.
Through better diversity and inclusionary policies in the energy efficiency and renewable energy sector, growing clean energy knowledge and empowering community champions; African Nova Scotian and Indigenous communities will have access to a greater number of economic and social benefits. Positioning organizations and communities to create opportunities, like jobs and increase energy efficiency.
About/Meet our Members
CMM: The Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq (CMM) is a Tribal Council incorporated in 1986 as a not-for-profit organization under the Societies Act of Nova Scotia. Starting with a team of two staff members, almost thirty years later the organization is supported by more than a hundred employees. The mission statement best summarizes the objectives of the organization: “To proactively promote and assist Mi’kmaw communities’ initiatives toward self-determination and enhancement of community.”
NCNS: The Native Council of Nova Scotia (NCNS) is the self-governing authority for the large community of Mi’kmaq/Aboriginal peoples residing off-reserve in Nova Scotia throughout traditional Mi’kmaq territory. NCNS’ goal is to operate and administer a strong and effective Aboriginal Peoples Representative Organization that serves, advocates and represents our community.
ONE North End: The One North End (ONE) Community Economic Development Society collaborates with communities, businesses, corporations, non-profits, government, and academia to identify high-demand sectors. As a result, we build capacity within those sectors to support vulnerable populations to actively develop career paths and entrepreneurs through collective impact strategies that lead to co-created initiatives.
Clean Foundation: A program delivery non-profit, Clean Foundation has helped the communities in which we work make real progress towards a cleaner future by taking on climate change. We do this by bringing specialized teams together to work on complex problems, delivering clean projects and programs for communities. Essentially, we’re here to make the biggest impact for a cleaner future.
More about the Project
The Network supports African Nova Scotian and Indigenous communities in Nova Scotia to enter and succeed in our growing clean economy. We want to develop a logo that reflects and is influenced by the communities we work with and support.
We are looking to help foster inclusion of African Nova Scotian and Indigenous communities in the clean energy sector as we all work toward a clean future.
The selected artist will be paid $2,500 for their logo design.
The Network is looking to work with a graphic artist that is representative of the Network, and therefore strongly encourages artists from the African Nova Scotian and Indigenous communities to apply.
