Indigenous Energy Project
Aligning Indigenous job seekers with clean energy opportunities.The Indigenous Energy Project is a partnership between Native Council of Nova Scotia (NCNS) and Clean Foundation funded by Employment and Social Development Canada. This project will host a variety of initiatives, services and sessions across Mi’kma’ki, all with the end goal of providing employment opportunities in the clean economy to Indigenous job seekers within the borders of Nova Scotia.
Our Projects
Indigenous Wage Subsidy Initiative
Connecting Indigenous job seekers (age 15 and up) residing in Nova Scotia with qualifying positions in the clean economy in Nova Scotia. Employers can receive a subsidy covering up to 80 per cent of the employee’s salary (up to $15,000, for two to eight months).

Individuals hired through this initiative must:
- Self-identify as First Nations, Inuit or Métis
- Reside in Nova Scotia
- Be age 15 and up

Find talent and receive wage subsidies through the Indigenous Wage Subsidy Initiative!
We’ll help connect you with Indigenous job seekers (age 15 and up) residing in Nova Scotia seeking work in the clean economy. Employers can receive a subsidy covering up to 80 per cent of the employee’s salary (up to $15,000, for two to eight months). The subsidies can be used to cover new or existing positions.
Eligible employers include any Nova Scotia-based orginization looking to fill a position that contributes to the clean economy.
Individuals hired through this initiative must:
- Self-identify as First Nations, Inuit or Métis
- Reside in Nova Scotia
- Be age 15 and up
