Clean Energy & Equity Initiatives
Supporting underserved and underrepresented communities in Nova Scotia to enter and succeed in our growing clean economy.Working together
The purpose of the Clean Energy and Equity Initiative is to assist underserved and underrepresented communities in Nova Scotia with growing their knowledge, skills and tools needed to enter and succeed in Nova Scotia’s growing clean energy economy.
Currently, there are three activities making up the Initiative:
Clean Energy and Equity Network
The community-owned Network that empowers African Nova Scotian and Indigenous peoples to build and participate in the clean economy. Through Network membership, communities and organizations can participate in knowledge sharing, clean energy education and engagement and assessments of community needs.
Prepare to enter the clean economy
The clean economy is open to all. Our training programs and funding opportunities help address gaps that can make involvement in the clean economy difficult.
Wage subsidy
Knowledge and skills are not the only barriers for participating in the clean economy. Wages can also be a barrier. The Clean Energy and Equity Initiative will help bridge the gap between training and employment in the clean economy by providing wage subsidies where possible.
