What's the YCC?

Nova Scotia’s Youth Climate Council (YCC) provides a platform to connect youth directly with government on climate change challenges and opportunities.

The Youth Climate Council is made up of youth in Nova Scotia, age 14-24. With support from Clean Foundation, the Council is helping advise the Government of Nova Scotia on its response to climate change and engaging young people across the province in climate action.

What does the YCC do?

Members of the Youth Climate Council serve a 10-month term from September to June. Throughout their term, members of the YCC are working together to:

  • Discuss climate-related topics and policies that are important to youth.
  • Advise the Government of Nova Scotia on its response to climate change.
  • Deliver educational and training opportunities for NS youth.
  • Design and host a Climate Summit for 50 like-minded youth.
  • Create a micro-granting program to support youth climate action projects.
  • Develop a bursary program for NS youth.

How can I join the YCC?

Applications to join the Youth Climate Council open annually in May.
Up to 15 Nova Scotian youth
will be selected to join the YCC each year.
