Salary: $48,000-$52,000 annually
Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week) Temporary (six-month contract with potential for extension for additional two years pending funding)

Summary of the Position:
We are looking for an experienced facilitator to develop and deliver engaging, community-based workshops on clean and renewable energy.
Reporting to the Manager of Community Based Energy Partnerships, the Clean Energy Community Engagement Lead (CECE Lead) will be responsible for using a ‘train the trainer’ approach to provide impactful, context-specific clean energy education for Mi’kmaq and African Nova Scotian community members of all ages.
The CECE Lead will be comfortable and familiar with various types of renewable energies and have excellent and demonstrated communication and facilitation skills. This is an exciting opportunity to join a meaningful new initiative and contribute to building knowledge and effective environmental change in communities across Nova Scotia.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- In consultation and collaboration with communities, develop workshops on clean energy for Mi’kmaq and African Nova Scotian communities across Nova Scotia.
- Facilitate and deliver these workshops for community members of all ages, as well as offer ‘train the trainer’ opportunities to amplify reach.
- Create or support the creation of clean energy literacy resources and materials for communities.
- Remain current on renewable energy technologies, energy policy and best practices for clean energy education.
- Support the Manager, Community Based Energy Partnerships, in promoting, recruiting, and coordinating community workshops.
- Work effectively and respectfully with subject matter experts, community partners and stakeholders.
- Perform all other duties/projects as assigned.
Education and Required Qualifications:
- Experience in community education, e.g. facilitating and leading workshops with adults and working with diverse groups.
- Post-secondary education related degree considered an asset.
- Experience working with diverse communities throughout the province, experience working in employment and education initiatives with African Nova Scotian, Mi’kmaw and other underrepresented communities will be considered an asset.
- Experience working within programs that focus on energy efficiency, renewable energy and the transition to a low-carbon economy will be considered an asset.
- Comfortable and familiar with climate change science and energy literacy/education
- Ability to adapt to changing environments, assignments and multiple priorities.
- A wide scale of creativity.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to complete and pass a criminal background check.
- Must have a valid Canadian driver’s license and be able to provide a Driver’s Abstract from the Registry of Motor Vehicle.
Working Conditions:
- Additional hours, or time outside of the normal work hours, may be required to meet operational requirements of planning and delivering specific projects at specific times of the year.
- Regular travel to communities within Nova Scotia will be required for this position.
