Summary of the Position:
The Energy Efficiency Professionals Training Program works to create quality career pathway opportunities within Canada’s environmental and clean technology sector. The program is open to Nova Scotian community members that self-identify as being a part of an underserved or underrepresented group. The program’s goal is to create a stream of talent to grow Canada’s clean economy and support the rapid transition to a low carbon economy.
Reporting to the Manager of Workforce Development, and working closely with the Clean Energy Equity team, the Project Lead – Workforce Development has the exciting job of recruiting employers who can offer quality work placement opportunities for our training graduates within Nova Scotia’s energy sector. This not only builds capacity for employers working in this important economic space, but also sets these prospective employees up with customized work experience to support their new careers! The Lead is responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery and project management of the wage subsidy component of the program, as well as supporting employer and participants throughout the placements. This is both an energizing and demanding position which requires strong organizational and communication skills, creativity, and a passion for equitable employment within Canada’s Clean Economy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively and creatively market the wage subsidy and training program provincially to all potential partners and expand an existing database of potential host employers across Nova Scotia.
- Successfully recruit necessary number of partners to host program participants in wage-subsidized work placements.
- Full end to end project management of the wage subsidy program including updating current processes, an annual work plan and evaluation framework.
- Work with our training specialist to design and conduct stimulating and informative training to participants around topics such as resume writing and interview skills.
- Support prospective employers as they develop a workplace culture that is culturally responsive, welcoming, and supportive for program participants.
- Provide recruitment support for employers where necessary.
- Attend conferences and networking events to promote the program and develop new contacts.
- Coordinate the payment of all program wage subsidies.
- Conduct virtual and in-person site visits with interns and employers.
- Assist Clean Energy Equity team with all necessary reporting.
Education and Required Qualifications:
- Post-secondary background in Project Management, Community Development, Human Resources, Sustainability or any other relevant field.
- Strong passion for equity employment, inclusive growth and building a diverse clean economy.
- Highly organized, respectful of deadlines, experience with budgets and task driven.
- Likes researching, communication and building strong partner relationships.
- Able to work well independently and with a fun and diverse team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Teams, Forms)
- Has a passion for training and supporting those entering a new workforce.
- Experience in a non-profit setting, event coordination and/or multi-sector experience would be considered an asset.
Working Conditions:
Additional hours, or time outside of the normal work hours, may be required to meet operational requirements of planning and delivering certain projects at specific times of the year. Travel may also be required.
