Reports to: Manager – Research and Proposals

Location: Dartmouth, NS

Salary Range: $45,000-$48,000

Hours: 35 per week (permanent, full time)

Anticipated Start Date: February 2023

Summary of Position:

Reporting to the Manager of Research and Proposals, the Program Development Officer will be comfortable and familiar with:

• Writing persuasively and meeting deadlines.
• General principles of taking action on climate change.
• Applying creative, critical and strategic thinking.

This position will work collaboratively with all departments at Clean to strengthen new and existing programs. The Officer will be part of the program development process.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Writing, editing and reviewing funding applications.
• Conducting regular scans for new funding opportunities.
• Participating in brainstorming and strategic program design.
• Understanding the needs and goals of each department at Clean.
• Maintaining clear communications with the Manager of Research and Proposals and other teams at Clean.
• Employing a variety of program development and program evaluation methods (training provided).

Education and Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Public Relations, Sustainability, Environmental Studies or equivalent degree/experience.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Passionate about the environment and social issues.
• Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Comfort working collaboratively and effectively with a team.
• Excellent organizational, time management and practical problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to multi-task in a busy work environment.
• Experience writing funding proposals is an asset.
• Experience creating or managing budgets is an asset.

There will be two phases to the hiring process – an interview followed by a persuasive or descriptive writing sample.
