Hours: 35 hours per week (15-week internship)

About the Clean Leadership Summer Internship Program
The Clean Leadership Summer Internship program helps grow the clean economy by matching interns (age 15-30) with employers for 9- and 15-week summer work placements. Participating interns will receive paid hands-on experience, mentorship opportunities, take part in a professional development conference and training, while supporting local environmental projects.
Program Requirements
- Must be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, person who has been granted refugee status in Canada or legally entitled to work in Canada;
- Must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years old (inclusive) at the start of internship;
- From and/or will be residing in Nova Scotia for the duration of the internship;
- Must not be an immediate family member of host employer;

Summary of position
The host employer for this Summer Internship position through the Clean Leadership program will be the Department of Natural Resources and Renewables. In this position, you will be mainly responsible for supporting the team in developing and advising on strategies, policies, programs, and initiatives related to Clean Innovation and Marine Renewable Energy. Tasks will include in-depth research (including literature reviews, legal research, and jurisdictional scans) as well as complex analysis of information and data to inform policy decisions. The position will be responsible for writing and presenting clear, concise reports, guidance materials, and information packages pertaining to departmental strategies and initiatives as it relates to clean growth and innovation.
The successful candidate needs to have a background in Policy, Business, Finance, Economics, or other relevant experience to provide this lens to our projects and initiatives. Strong skills in research, analysis, and critical thinking are a must.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide support to the team on policy and program analysis, advice, and recommendations on a broad range of renewable energy and clean growth/innovation initiatives.
- Conduct research on policy directions, legislation, and practices in other jurisdictions related to clean innovation;
- Support the preparation of verbal briefings, presentations and consultations, background/discussion papers, briefing notes for ministerial use, business cases and submissions to senior staff as required;
- Provide feedback to Supervisor and other divisional staff as required by creating activity reports, briefings, and disseminating meeting minutes and reports, etc.;
- Support data collection, analysis, and metrics (ranging from which companies are active in the clean growth and innovation sector, to economic benefits reporting requirements of projects/programs)

- Have an aptitude for safe work practices and the ability to multi-task in a busy work environment;
- Be able to work productively as part of a team while responding to feedback;
- Demonstrated interest in future employment in the environmental or clean sector is considered an asset;
