Climate Action Grants

What could your class do with $500?

If you’re a teacher in Nova Scotia looking for a meaningful way to engage your students in hands‑on climate activities, the Climate Action Grant is a powerful tool to help bring their ideas to life. These grants support youth‑led environmental initiatives and offer up to $1000 to turn classroom inspiration into real community impact.

Grants are available for projects led by students from pre‑primary to Grade 12. You can submit applications on behalf of your class, or for individual students with your support. Climate Action Grants are granted for projects that align with curriculum outcomes in environmental science, sustainable development, social action and more, making them a natural fit for many subjects and grade levels.

Dozens of classrooms across the province have already made a difference with their grants. Grade 7 students in Kentville restored a local ecosystem by removing invasive Goutweed and planting native species. In Weymouth, Grade 10 students built a wood‑chip composter that heats their school greenhouse. Grade 6 students in Dartmouth created reusable tote bags while learning sewing skills and students in Eskasoni planted flowering crab apple trees that will bloom for years to come.

Your class or students could be next. Apply for a Climate Action Grant by February 20, 2026 and empower your students to take meaningful action in their community.
