Regional Energy Coaches
Helping affordable housing providers initiate and plan energy efficient retrofits and new builds.About REC
The Regional Energy Coaches (REC) program has been created by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities through the Green Municipal Fund to help affordable housing providers—including municipal, non-profit organizations and housing co-operatives—plan and initiate energy efficient retrofits and new builds.
While housing providers are responsible for moving projects forward and completing any necessary documentation, a regional energy coach can guide organizations towards achieving their sustainability goals through personalized support at no cost.
A regional energy coach can support energy projects in numerous ways, including:
- navigating funding streams and funding applications;
- providing expertise in energy conservation, ensuring solutions are tailored to your needs;
- assisting with selection of project teams, connecting you with other experts as needed;
- increasing the capacity of your team by sharing resources and training/networking opportunities;
- creating a plan to measure the success of a project upon completion; and
- ensuring that lessons learned are embedded in future projects.
