Reports to: Manager, EV Services  

Job location: 1223 Lower Water Street, Halifax 

Wage: $19.00 / hour

Hours: 35 hours per week (15-week internship) 

Start Date: Expected May 11, 2026

About the Clean Leadership Summer Internship Program 

The Clean Leadership Summer Internship program helps grow the clean economy by matching interns (age 15-30) with employers for 9- and 15-week summer work placements. Participating interns will receive paid hands-on experience, mentorship opportunities, take part in a professional development conference and training, while supporting local environmental projects.  

Program Requirements 

  • Must be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, person who has been granted refugee status in Canada or legally entitled to work in Canada;  
  • Must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years old (inclusive) at the start of internship; 
  • From and/or will be residing in Nova Scotia for the duration of the internship; 
  • Must not be an immediate family member of the host employer;

Summary of position  

The host employer for this Summer Internship position through the Clean Leadership program will be Nova Scotia Power. In this position, you will be responsible for supporting the operations of new EV fast-charging sites across the province. This includes the regular monitoring of virtual dashboards, conducting in-person site visits, submitting and following service requests, and updating operations records. The intern will also be responsible for planning, executing, and attending EV engagement events, and for supporting the Marketing team as needed, both with the goal of educating the community on EV charging.  The successful candidate needs to have a commitment to working safely, a valid driver’s licence and a willingness to travel (50 – 75% week dependent).  

Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Assist on-site at any one of 15 project locations across the province to support site operations and small maintenance tasks (checking signage and equipment for wear or tear, evaluating and improving site cleanliness, documenting and arranging damage or defect repair, etc.) 
  • Monitor the digital operations dashboard and submit and follow up on maintenance service tickets as needed. 
  • Maintain updated maintenance records  
  • Collect feedback on EV Charger network via multi-channel customer outreach 
  • Organize and attend community engagement and education events with other EV Stakeholders 
  • Collaborate with marketing on educational materials specific to EV Charging  
  • Conduct market research and gather data to inform decision-making 
  • Collaborate with other departments to support and measure project success 

Requirements/Qualifications 

  • Follow safe work practices and while delivering on multiple tasks in a busy work environment; 
  • Be able to work productively as part of a team while responding to feedback; 
  • Demonstrated interest in future employment in the environmental or clean sector is considered an asset. 
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills, is client/customer focused, and is comfortable engaging with the public 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required in addition to a high attention to detail. 
  • Excellent computer literacy, including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and produce driver’s abstract. 

Working Conditions 
This position will require travel across the province, sometimes up to 50-75% as needed on a weekly basis. All travel costs and arrangements are paid by employer. Working outside and with the public should be expected when working on-site or at community events. 

Physical Requirements 
Driving requirements may be up to 4 hours from Halifax (one way).
